YOUTH CHOIR LEADER
Job description:
Pine Valley Methodist Church, a congregation of the Global Methodist Church, is directed by the Lead Pastor whose primary focus is on the spiritual health of the congregation. This position reports to the Minister of Music and the ministry of Pine Valley Methodist Church is overseen by the Church Council.

POSITION: Youth Choir Leader
POSITION STATUS: Part-time
POSITION SUMMARY:
The role of the Youth Choir Leader is to direct the worship arts programs for children, youth and contemporary worship. This person will work alongside clergy and lay ministers to carry out this mission as a member of a team in ministry.

2. Have a strong background in music.
3. Well Organized.
4. Loves working with a wide variety of people.
5. Previous church experience a major plus.
6. Must support all the ministries of the church, not just music events.
7. Affirm the beliefs of the Global Methodist Church.
CHILDREN & YOUTH CHOIR MINISTRY MANAGEMENT
1. Must love working with young people and understand what motivates them.
2. Create and nurture spiritual, musical and social development in our youth so they may grow in their understanding of their role in worship.
3. Develop and implement a worship arts program (choir, GLOW, drama, ensembles, etc.) open to middle and high school youth.
4. Direct weekly rehearsals, two annual musicals (December and Late Spring) and special events (i.e. VBS, Church Camp, Christmas Eve, and Revival.)
5. Direct children in providing musical leadership for worship services (Traditional, Bridge, Thursday Nights) on a regular basis.
6. Teach musical excellence as well as a love for Christ to youth. Be able to speak to them on their level.
7. Organize, plan and lead an annual weeklong music in mission trip for our Youth Choir (grades 6-12).
8. Develop and implement an annual calendar of activities and programs that promote relationship development and discipleship at levels appropriate for every group.
9. Responsive to communication demands which arise through personal interaction, e-mail, telephone contact, etc.
10. Participate in educational training events to strengthen the knowledge and skill bases in the employee’s ministry area.
11. Attend staff and church meetings as assigned by the Minister of Music and the Lead Pastor.
12. Implement any fundraisers that are required to underwrite the costs of the additional children and youth program activities.
13. Other duties as assigned.
